The chip production in China rose 41.3 percent year-on-year last month to a record 31.57 billion, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

In the first seven months of this year, total IC production in China reached 203.6 billion, up 47.3% year-on-year.

Official data shows that China exported 178.5 billion ICs from January to July, with a growth of 35% year-on-year.

Fu Liang, an independent technology analyst, said Chinese chipmakers are beefing up production capacity as global semiconductor shortages continue to affect automobile, smartphone, PC and other sectors.

To meet soaring global demand for PCs during the COVID-19 pandemic, China also exported 130 million PCs from January to July, up nearly 41 percent year-over-year, which confirms the return of PCs to the center of digital Life. As noted by experts, shorter PC replacement cycles and higher penetration rates are prompting more Chinese companies to enter the PC field.

In July, the output value of China's electronic information manufacturing industry grew 13 percent year-on-year. The growth rate itself increased by 1.2 percentage year-on-year, according to the top industry regulator.

As the epidemic continues to affect global supply chain, China is trying to leverage its position as a manufacturing powerhouse to boost the production.
